Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have actually been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

"These kinds of items being offered, typically online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no warranty about their safety.

"You simply do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
